Treating people with respect wins trust and develops lasting relationships. Here’s what to do.
You have to be on time. In fact, arrive early for appointments and meetings. Plan time milestones in your daily schedule that tell you when to begin transferring to an appointment. That is, note when you will stop working on a task, begin collecting resource materials, and start traveling. Allow time for delays in travel, especially if driving. Imagine finally taking off seven coats you’ve been wearing on top of each other for years and years. You’ve forgotten that some people consciously choose to live without seven layers of coats on even though most people are living that way.
You remember the possibilities you imagined your life would be when you were a child. You decide to take off the coats and start running joyfully through the spring fields you forgot about. You move into the light where you finally begin to laugh and live feeling inspired every day instead of simply walking around reacting to life, complaining, counting down the days to the next weekend or vacation until you finally die. How often do you have days where life is seriously hectic? It seems as though you just can’t seem to get a break. If its’ not work or running your business, its laundry, shuttling the kids to activities, grocery shopping, preparing dinner, etc. etc… It may seem like there’s not much time in the day to fulfill your lists, much less having some personal time?
Yet intellectually you know that you will be a much better lover, spouse, father, friend and leader if your life has some measure of balance and you take time to relax and rejuvenate. (more…)

Who am I? What comes up for you when you ask this question of yourself? In terms of memories, ideas, how you’ve been described? What do you identify with? Does this process of identification help you, or just cause suffering? Are you still figuring or learning about who you are?
Perhaps when your favorite basketball team loses, you suffer as though YOU lost. When your car is damaged it feels like YOU got hurt.
